Supporters page, a member name 'glow' (IE only), and to have a

you as a donor almost everywhere your name appears on this site. (You may opt-in or opt-out of
this special treatment at any time by contacting an administrator of this site.) We appreciate
your donation.
Please note: If you do not want your donation to be credited to your SkyPortal user
account (your name will appear as 'anonymous' on the supporters page and your user account will
not have a donor icon), you must say so in the comment area while making your donation. You need
not make any comments if you want your donation to be recognized.

How do I donate money to SkyPortal?
At the top or bottom of this page, you are provided the opportunity to
proceed in donating money to SkyPortal Development. SkyPortal accepts donations using PayPal.
This process has the following steps:
- Click on the button above the amount you want to donate. Go to the Donation Page
(you are here, now), read the provided instructions and use one of the PayPal buttons at the
top or bottom of the page, select the size of the donation you want to make to SkyPortal.
Buttons are provided for common denominations of US$10, $20, $50, $100 and $250, there is
also another button for you to choose your own donation amount.
- Enter a comment if you want to appear on the Supporters page. After clicking on the
PayPal button, you will be offered the opportunity to enter a comment and your current username that will be attached
to this donation. Specify here if you want to remain anonymous, or you will automatically
be listed on our Supporters page.
- Track your donations to SkyPortal. Once your donation has been submitted,
PayPal will email you a receipt. The SkyPortal site will recognize your donation within
a week (usually within 2 or 3 days). A list of donators to SkyPortal will appear in
the Supporters section of SkyPortal.net.
When you donate, you might notice that you are paying: h.gribbons[nospam]@insightbb.com.
This is the PayPal account that my bank account is attached to. I will be getting a separate
account for SkyPortal later on after I implement a few more items.
Why should I donate money to SkyPortal Development?
Do you use SkyPortal? Do you like the idea of community-developed Open Source software and
want to support this type of activity?
By donating money to SkyPortal Development, you help SkyPortal to continue to provide and maintain
a strong presence in the Open Source Portal projects and their end-users. SkyPortal
continues to grow at a significant rate, with large numbers of new users joining the site each
month. Through your financial contribution, you can help offset the expense involved in the
hosting of this site and the development of new enhancements and features, as well as help fund
our plans to expand the SkyPortal.net website and service offering (including the redesign
of a number of existing services to be more feature rich and user-friendly).
Will SkyPortal go away if I don't donate?
No, we ARE NOT enabling donations to try to "save the site". SkyPortal is not in financial
trouble, nor is it going away. We are adding this donation feature because SkyPortal
hosting is not free and we want to continue to develop and add the features and functionality
that we know you want. If you like what we are doing for SkyPortal; if you like what we are
doing for the Open Source Portal community, now you can make a donation and help us out.
I live outside the United States; can I still contribute money to SkyPortal Development?
Yes, since SkyPortal accepts donations through PayPal, we are able to accept contributions
from many different countries. PayPal will handle the currency conversion on your behalf. Additional
information regarding currency conversion is provided on the PayPal website.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
To the best of our knowledge, no. If you live outside the United States and you believe this
donation may be tax-deductible, please consult local tax laws and/or a tax attorney. To the
best of our knowledge, donations to SkyPortal Development are not tax-deductible anywhere in the
world.
What do I get for my contribution? Will I get special attention on my support issues or
any say over what will be implemented next on the site?
SkyPortal Development works hard to provide free-of-charge support for our product. Whether you
are using SkyPortal for your personal site or business site, developing SkyPortal for
your friends or clients, or using the software developed on SkyPortal.net in any way, you
are deriving benefit from our efforts. You will also get a special 'glow' around your member
name (IE only) and a special contributor icon. Both of which will be displayed just about everywhere
your name appears around the site. You will also have the happiness of knowing that you have
helped to support the world's greatest Open Source Portal software development site!
We cannot guarantee that as a donor you would a higher level of support than we already provide,
but may well take this in to account when processing your request. While we accept module and
enhancement requests from everyone, and do not guarantee a particular schedule for implementation
of new features, but similarly we may take in to account features requested by donors. For higher
priority requests, you may want to try our Development Sponsorship opportunities.
How will my contribution be recognized?
We maintain a Supporters page (a publicly-accessible page)
of donors and their comments. If you opted-out of display of your donation by stating such in
the PayPal comments area at the time of donation, your name will appear on that page as 'Anonymous'.
You may remove your name from the Supporters page after-the-fact (changed to 'Anonymous' or
to youe member name) by contacting an administrator of the SkyPortal website, and they
verify the information.

Questions, concerns, or SkyPortal site issues related to the donation system may be

a Donation Support Request via PM system to an administrator.
Development Sponsorship.
SkyPortal is an open source content management system with nearly unlimited potential in
terms of extensibility. The only limitation being imagination, time, and money.
If your business or organization is looking for the implementation or creation of a specific
SkyPortal module or enhancement, we invite you to contact the SkyPortal Development Team
about Development Sponsorship opportunities. If the module satisfies a general need and has
benefit for the entire community it is probably best implemented as a core framework service.
The benefit of a core module/enhancement is that it ensures the feature remains compatible with
future product development and is maintained through each software upgrade.
Funding a Development Sponsorship project increases the priority of the module or enhancement
and allows the SkyPortal Development Team to focus on its creation/implementation. This allows
you to confidently plan the availability of SkyPortal product features within the scheduling
expectations of your organization.
Depending on the scope of your specific requirements, sponsoring the implementation of a key
module or enhancement feature in SkyPortal will likely be less costly than investing in a
comparable Content Management System.
